Development process

By integrating the WSH development department into the customer's development process, the foundation is laid for a cost-optimized solution for later series production.

In principle, the possible geometry of a cold-formed part is influenced by the formability parameters of the underlying material and the number of forming stages in the production process. Various forming processes are available for manufacturing in cold forming. By skillfully combining these processes, extremely complex geometries can be produced. In combination with an extensive range of equipment, WSH has already demonstrated its technical expertise in the production of high-quality precision parts, primarily for the automotive industry.

Simulation and prototyping

Our engineers have special software, such as calculation programs and 3D CAD, at their disposal to develop the forming sequences, with the help of which the geometries of the individual forming stages are designed. Forming simulations based on the finite element method (FEM) can be used to check the previously created forming sequence for manufacturability. Extensive data, such as material flow, force requirement and tool load, can be taken from the system. In most cases, this eliminates the need for time-consuming and expensive preliminary tests.

Using laser-sintering technology, we can supply geometrically usable installation samples made of plastic (also fiber-reinforced), metal and flexible materials for preliminary tests within a very short time.

WSH-Vario

WSH-Vario are fasteners that meet the special requirements and wishes of our customers in terms of mechanical properties, form and function.

Functional elements that cannot be produced by cold forming are attached on special automatic finishing machines. Special composite parts made of steel and plastic utilize the properties and advantages of both material groups. This results in multifunctional elements that are designed to fulfill specific functions.

WSH ADVANCED

WSH ADVANCED are precision parts that we develop together with our customers as individual solutions for series products. Within this range of parts, we invest in innovative technologies with a view to efficiency.

By integrating the WSH development department into the development process, we lay the foundation for a cost-optimized solution for the subsequent series production.

Thread-rolling screws

Thread-forming screws for direct screwing into metal reduce assembly costs and improve the security and quality of the connection. They are a tool and fastener in one and, thanks to special thread geometries, form their matching mating thread without cutting when screwed in. Depending on the application, our products WSH SPIRALFORM, WSH TRILO, WSH VR, WSH DBS 60 or the WSH LVS 30 are used here.

Plastic connecting screws

Self-forming screws for direct fastening in plastic. The WSH KVS versions have a self-tapping thread geometry designed for use in thermoplastics. This is characterized by an acute flank angle of 30°, which facilitates screwing in and minimizes radial stresses in the plastic. Depending on the application, our products WSH KVS 30, WSH KVS 30 XL or the WSH KVS 30 DP are used here.

MAThread®

The patented MAThread search tip optimizes the screwing process in unfavourable conditions, such as inclined attachments. WSH is a licensed manufacturer and uses this patented approach geometry to drastically reduce disruptions in automated assembly.

WSH Compound

WSH COMPOUND refers to composite parts made of steel and plastic that combine and utilize the properties and advantages of these two material groups. The result is multifunctional elements that are designed to fulfill specific functions.

WSH Spanform

WSH Spanform are special parts with separate downstream operations. Functional elements that cannot be produced by cold forming are attached to special post-processing machines.

WSH combination screws

WSH combination screws are connected to one another using one or two captive but freely rotatable spacers. The ready-to-assemble unit of screw and spacer eliminates the difficult picking up and gripping of flat parts and the time-consuming manual assembly during assembly.

WSH screw locking

Under dynamic loads, screw connections tend to loosen on their own. Particularly in higher strength classes, reliable screw locking systems lead to product optimization. WSH offers individual solutions, both mechanical and chemical locking elements.
